This is my follow up to "Letting Go". I've been working on this one for months and have a ways to go yet. Its 40 x 30 inches and its in oil. There are raised shapes added to the painting and will be painted over or gold leafed. its only about 50% complete, I expect to finish this sometime in late fall.

I worked on the skirt of her gown today, I did the transparent flowing part, it took about 6 hours.

In this painting I am combining shapes and elements from nature, drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau as well as from man made shapes and patterns. I am drawing upon my surroundings, which are a combination of nature and man made structure, for my inspiration. My world is filled with structurally organized nature, landscaping for example. The use of natural organic objects cultivated to achieve an orderly shape and groomed to meld with our structures.
I also used shapes and patterns to symbolize the four elements, earth, fire, air, water.

 

 

 

 

This painting is on 11 x 14 convexo canvas. I have a lot more to do.

1) This one also has a way to go. I painted a miniature of it first before deciding to commit to the 30 x 40 inch canvas this is what I hope it will be when its done.

 

2) I had to rework her face. I also started putting in the darker tones and began work on the background
